The Reverend Dr. Frances A. Reid is a native of Wilson, North Carolina. She is the fourth of ten children born to the late Bishop Millus and Nina Williams, Sr. Dr. Reid was married for 25 years. To that union was born one daughter, Mrs. Kameaka Graves. Also, blessed to be a part of their family is Ms. Linda Faye Foster.
Dr. Reid received her elementary and secondary education in the Wilson, NC Public School System. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from North Carolina Wesleyan College, Rocky Mount, NC, her Masters of Divinity Degree from the Hood Theological Seminary, Salisbury, NC, and her Doctorial Degree from Palmer Theological Seminary, Wynnewood, PA.
At age 21, Dr. Reid was called to preach God’s Word. She is an ordained Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. Dr. Reid has served as pastor for the following ministries: Jackson Chapel AME Zion Church, Best Station, NC, Salisbury AME Zion Church, Faro, NC, St. Augustine AME Zion Church, Bridgeton, NJ, Clinton Memorial AME Zion Church, Newark, NJ and Leak Temple AME Zion Church, Anchorage, AK
May 1998, Dr. Reid was appointed the pastor of the Historic Clinton Memorial AME Zion Church, Newark, NJ, were she bears the distinct honor of being the first female in Zion (her denomination) appointed to a major pulpit.
August 2009, Dr. Reid was appointed the pastor of the Leake Temple AME Zion Church, Anchorage, AK, were she also bears the distinct honor of being the first female appointed to this pulpit and the second pastor to serve this church in its history, following the late Reverend Dr. Theodore A. Moore, Founder.
March 2013, Dr. Reid was appointed to serves on the Administrative Board of Appeals for her beloved Zion, representing the Western Episcopal District of which the Alaska Conference is a part.
Dr. Reid reside in Anchorage, AK and was married to the late Mr. E. Marion Reid Jr. Dr. Reid is heavily involved in community ministry and is active in her local church, Empowerment Temple AME Zion Church.
Dr. Reid is the founder of “Lectures for The Living Institute,” and “Where are You Now Retreat.” These are teaching ministries that encourages right relationship & intimacy with God by fostering ‘renewal & transformation.’ The ministries are designed to empower the lives of men and women as they journey towards the kingdom.
